Max Coates Blog: 2011 Championship Ambitions

1 Mins read

I would like to start by welcoming you all to my first ever blog entry.  I haven't done this before so, hopefully, I should improve as I gain more experience.  A big thank you to all at the checkeredflag.co.uk for giving me this opportunity.

This year I will be competing in the Ginetta Junior championship which lines up as part of the BTCC paddock.  Because of this we benefit from all the niceties of the BTCC and have a great fan base that attend the meetings and watch the races live on TV.  My intention is to win the championship this year, it's not a case of I would like to win it, “I want to win it”.  I have a hunger, a desire to win the championship this year and I will put every effort into achieving that ambition.

Last year I also raced in this series which gave me a great deal of knowledge that I can bring forward to the events this year.  I finished 11th in the series just one point behind 10th and then went on to finish 2nd in the Ginetta Junior Winter Series at Pembrey in South Wales.

I have been racing Karts since the age of 8, starting in an old barn.  I started racing by luck when we went to a proper kart track to practice and ended up taking my ARKS (Karting) test.

We are now just a few days away from starting the 2011 season at Brands Hatch, preparations have been mixed for the forthcoming season.  There is still a lot to do before we start testing on Friday but I have every confidence that all will be sorted.  I feel as fit as ever thanks to the membership at Catterick Leisure Centre and the expert advice given by the Porsche Human Performance Centre at Silverstone whilst on a fitness assessment day with the MSA Academy.

My next blog will come between Brands Hatch and Donington just two weeks after the season opener.  Until then I wish you all the best,

Max
