Herck Tops Day Three Of GP2 Abu Dhabi Test

1 Mins read

Michael Herck set the fastest time as GP2 Asia pre-season testing resumed in Abu Dhabi.

For the second of the two-day testing sessions, a shorter configuration of the Yas Marina Circuit is being used, as it is the layout that will be used for the opening GP2 Asia round next weekend. This meant that much of the focus of today's running was to find a good setup for the new layout.

Arden's Josef Kral topped the morning session, beating iSport's Marcus Ericsson by 0.3 seconds. Dani Clos was third fastest for Racing Engineering, with Jules Bianchi fourth for ART and Herck fifth for Coloni.

In the afternoon session, Davide Valsecchi set the early pace for newcomers Team AirAsia. Kral then took first place, before Bianchi went quickest. Valsecchi returned to top spot towards the end of the session, but was beaten by Herck in the dying moments. Behind Herck and Valsecchi, Ericsson ended in third, ahead of Bianchi and Clos.

Pre-season testing concludes with the fourth day on Monday.
