Menasheh Idafar declared himself happy with his Friday running during the British Formula Three International Series test session at Snetterton.
The championship is at the newly revamped Norfolk circuit for its third weekend of the year, and after Idafar picked up a podium to close out the previous round confidence is high in the driver's T-Sport camp.
The 20-year-old set the 14th best time around the track – now nearly three miles long with the five turn infield section shoehorned into the lap. However, in the afternoon session Idafar cleaved nearly a second from his time as he worked to hone the set-up on his VW engined Dallara. The improved time (1:40.416) moved him up to 12th in the combined times for the day.
“I'm quite happy with how today has gone,” said the British-born Bahraini. “This morning we worked on set-up and ran on used tyres and then in the afternoon when we pushed a bit more we got up to fifth fastest before some others took newer tyres again. Overall, I'm pleased – it's a good start.”
Qualifying – which sets the grid for races one and three during the weekend – takes place at 10:40am on Saturday, with race one in the afternoon. Races two and three follow on Sunday.
