Stefano Bizzarri Joins Ombra Racing For Budapest

1 Mins read

Stefano Bizzarri has joined Ombra Racing ahead of the second round of the Auto GP season at Budapest's Hungaroring this weekend.

The 21-year-old Italian, born in Seattle in the United States, competed in a full season of Auto GP in 2010 for the RP Motorsport team. He failed to score any points however from 12 starts, with a best result of ninth.

Previous to that he finished third in the European F3 Open in 2009 with one win. In 2011 he has been racing in the International GT Open in a Ferrari 458 GT3 run by AF Corse. He currently lies second in the GTS class standings.

“I'm really happy to be back in the Auto GP car, the most impressive car I've driven in my career so far,” said Bizzarri.

“In 2010 my aim was making some experience, being careful to avoid mistakes and put as many miles as possible under my belt. In Budapest it will be different, I will push as much as I can to make the most of this chance and understand where I am compared to the competition, that is really tough.”

Ombra Racing ran Kevin Ceccon and Pasquale di Sabatino at the opening round of the season at Monza, with series rookie Ceccon scoring a podium in Race 2.

“We have followed Stefano's career since the times of his great performances in F3, so we are really happy to have him with us in Budapest,” said Ombra's Davide Mazzoleni.

“We know that he's missing some time in the car compared to his rivals who already contested the official tests and one event, but he knows the car well so we're sure that he will be quickly on the pace. From our side we will give our best to give him a quick car, knowing that he has the talent to make the most of it.”
