Barwell Motorsport has unveiled their 2012 title contender for its international GT3 campaigns which include the Avon Tyres British GT Championship and the Blancpain Endurance series.

For the season ahead the Barwell squad will continue their working relationship with Aston Martin but introduce an ex-Marc VDS Racing BMW Z4 GT3 to the mix.

The car is a proven winner, taking victory in the last two rounds of the 2011 Blancpain Championship while also taking pole position for the 24 hours of Spa.

While drivers are yet to be confirmed the team admit they are in talks with drivers representing Ecurie Ecosse (Alasdair McCaig, Olly Bryant, Andrew Smith and Joe Twyman), who brought the famous name back to international sportscar racing in 2011 with the Barwell-run Aston Martin DB9RS9 in the24 hours of Spa.

Barwell MD, Mark Lemmer, commented “I can't wait to get going with the BMW Z4 GT3; in my opinion, it's the best chassis in GT3 so should be the perfect bit of kit for British GT. We have won championships before with BMW and I'm sure with the right drivers on board we can win some more!”
