Historic racer Jon Minshaw and former Porsche Carrera Cup GB and BTCC driver Tim Harvey are to team up to compete in the 2012 British GT Championship for Trackspeed.
The duo will share a Porsche 911 GT3R backed by Tweeks Cycles and Demon Tweeks.
Both drivers enjoyed successful 2011 seasons. Minshaw won the E-Type Challenge series in the 50th anniversary year of the famous sportscar, while also driving several other historic race cars throughout the year.
Harvey began the year as reigning Carrera Cup GB champion, but elected to step out of the championship before the half way point. He did, however, bow out by winning the race among the GB competitors at the Porsche World Cup – the brand's flagship race around the Nurburgring Nordschleife.
“It's the perfect place for me to race in 2012,” said Harvey. “I wanted to be in a Porsche and with a driver I'd enjoy working with. Jon is a seriously committed racer and Trackspeed has done a very good job with the Porsche.”
“I had such a good season in historic racing last year that it was difficult to see where to go next,” said Minshaw. “I've decided to have a crack at some modern racing. It will be a new challenge and I don't underestimate the task. I want to try and finish every race and then see where we are at the end of the season.”
Though his recent racing has been in historic series – a habit Minshaw plans to continue, fitting in several high-profile historic festivals with his E-Type and Lister Jaguar around his British GT campaign – he has raced in the modern 24 Hour races at Dubai and Silverstone.
