Mihai Marinescu continues to look strong ahead of the opening races of the FIA Formula Two Championship season, topping the timesheets again in second practice at Silverstone.
Having recorded the fastest time in first practice, the Romanian driver finished up nearly two and a half tenths clear of everyone else in the second session, and improved his morning benchmark by a similar margin.
Formula 3 graduates Alex Fontana and Markus Pommer were again Marinescu's nearest rivals, and were the only two men within a second of Marinescu's last gasp effort.
Luciano Bacheta was fourth, ahead of a surprise fifth-fastest Parthiva Sureshwaren, who has only scored one point from his two previous F2 campaigns.
Iranian Kourosh Khani continued his impressive start in the series with the sixth best time, just one thousandth of a second ahead of fellow Formula Renault BARC champion Dino Zamparelli. Also close behind was last minute entry Kevin Mirocha. Hector Hurst was ninth, with Plamen Kralev in tenth.
2011 runner-up Christopher Zanella opted not to take to the track, that after having only done a handful of laps during the morning.
