Cheng Set For Macau Return With Audi R8 LMS

1 Mins read

Franky Cheng Congfu will race for Audi in the GT Asia Series and the Audi R8 LMS Cup, switching from his Mercedes DTM drive.

Cheng holds an impressive CV, having raced in A1GP for Team China as well as competing in the World Endurance Championship LMP1 class, and scoring an LMP2 podium result at the 2008 Le Mans 24 Hours event.

“We are delighted to welcome Franky Cheng to the Audi R8 LMS Cup and to the Audi motorsport family.” said Director of Audi Sport customer racing in China Rene Koneburg. “The addition of Franky not only reflects our strong commitment to working with the region’s best drivers in the Audi R8 LMS Cup, but our vision to further develop motorsport in China and Asia.”

The Audi R8 LMS Cup is set to kick off in May, with the full calendar to be announced shortly. One confirmed round, however, will be at the infamous Guia street circuit in support of the 60th Macau Grand Prix in November.

Cheng has raced at the Guia circuit at the Formula 3 Macau Grand Prix in 2008, and will make his return to the 6.2km circuit at the final round of the Audi R8 LMS Cup.
