Persistent rain brought about the cancellation of qualifying for both the Grand-Am Rolex Series and Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge at Road Atlanta.

Under Grand-Am rules the grids for both series will be set by the class points standings, which gives defending series championship Scott Pruett and Memo Rojas pole position for Saturday afternoon’s two hour, 45 minute Rolex series race in the Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates BMW-Riley.

They will be joined on the front row by the GAINSCO/Bob Stallings Racing #99 of Alex Gurney and Jon Fogarty who won the pole position at both the Circuit of the Americas and Barber Motorsports Park, as well as winning the race at COTA.

The Rolex Series GT field will be led away by the Magnus Racing Porsche of John Potter and Andy Lally.

The Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge, which has a 150 minute race scheduled to start Saturday morning at the Braselton track will be led away by the #13 Rum Bum Racing Porsche shared by Matt Plumb and Nick Longhi. The pairing won the series’ race at Barber Motorsports Park a fortnight ago. Coincidentally while they were handed the overall pole and the head of Grand Sport (GS) class the pairing that won at Street Tuner (ST) class at Barber will start from the pole in that class with Freedom Autosport’s Derek Whitis and Tom Long sharing the #25 Mazda MX-5.
