The all-danish driver line-up of Christoffer Nygaard, Kristian Poulsen and Allan Simonsen couldn’t have hoped for more after the initial qualifying session at 24 hours of Le Mans where they topped the times for Young Driver AMR.
With mixed weather conditions through practice the team were quick to get out on circuit and set a time early in the session, this worked to their advantage as the session was red-flagged after 70 minutes as a result of the Thiriet by TDS Racing LMP2 car hitting the barriers on the Mulsanne Straight.
“So far, the start into our Le Mans weekend went pretty well, we were quickest in both sessions and claimed provisional pole position in our class”, a satisfied Christoffer Nygaard said.
“We could work on the most of our program, but still have some work to do. It was planned that Allan goes out fairly early in the qualifying to set a time, which put us on the safe side, if it would have rained. We only had one shot at the Pole and I think it’s even possible to go a bit little bit quicker. But nevertheless, even if we were the quickest GTE-Am car on Wednesday, we still have some work to do.”
Qualifying at Le Mans will resume Thursday from 19:00 – 21:00 hours and from 22:00 until midnight.
