The 2015 TUDOR United SportsCar Championship will start on January 24 with the 53rd Rolex 24 at Daytona.
Saunctioning body IMSA also confired the date of the Roar Before the 24 official test session as January 9-11, leaving the series’ teams faced with a quick turnaround before the race week with just one off weekend before they move into Daytona International Speedway on January 20th. The first on track action for the series will take place the following day.
“We expect the change in the Roar Before The Rolex 24 schedule to be welcome news for all of our stakeholders,” said Ed Bennett, IMSA Chief Executive Officer. “Moving the Roar back one weekend will enable all involved with IMSA to spend more time with their families during the holiday season. We are grateful to our partners at Daytona International Speedway and NASCAR for accommodating us.”
Bennett continued; “the Rolex 24 At Daytona, meanwhile, will retain its familiar position on the last weekend in January. This date works well for a number of reasons, not least of which is the opportunity it provides for stars from throughout the racing world to kick off the season against the very best the TUDOR Championship has to offer.”
The Rolex 24 at Daytona will also begin the 2015 Tequila Patron North American Endurance Cup (NAEC).
This weekend brings the 2014 TUDOR Championship to Watkins Glen for the Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen, the third round of the 2014 NAEC with all four of the classes competing in the championship racing on the same track at the same time for the first time since March’s 12 Hours of Sebring.
