Lorenzo Bertelli ready for the big time in WRC

1 Mins read

Lorenzo Bertelli is setting his sights on a top level drive for the 2015 FIA World Rally Championship season after revealing he may have a limited time on his rally career.

Bertelli’s mother Miuccia runs the Prada fashion house and he admitted to wrc.com “I don’t think I have many years ahead of me where I can enjoy the sport because I will have to work in the family company”

The Italian has had a promising year in the WRC2 category driving a Ford Fiesta R5 and a Ford Fiesta RRC from M-Sport, finishing the year third in the championship with the season highlight a win in Italy.

Not everyone believes he should make the move up to WRC just yet but the Prada heir is determined to make his mark and has set his sights on a top-flight drive admitting “I like challenging myself a lot”.

For 2015 there will be another change, former co-driver Mitia Dotta announced his intentions to move on and take job in Moto GP. 2014 FIA WRC2 co-driver champion Giovanni Bernacchini has been lined up as his replacement and will drive together for the first time when they test ahead of the Monte Carlo rally.
