8) Jordan King
Jordan King was expected to be a contender for the European Formula 3 title in 2014, but in his second season in the series it was not to be, and the Briton failed to take a victory during the year in finishing seventh in the standings.
Heading into the season, King was regarded as one of the favourites for the title, yet could not take that breakthrough victory, although it was not for the lack of trying – he finished second on four occasions.
His most competitive weekend was at the Norisring, when he finished on the podium twice, and was on course for another strong result in the other race when his front wing broke. He also took podium finishes in the season opener at Silverstone, at Hockenheim (both visits), Moscow Raceway and Imola.
His weekend in Spa-Francorchamps also needs to be noted. He was forced to start at the back of the field for all three races due to issues in qualifying, but fought through magnificently to secure top ten results in all three races.
King has ambitions to leave Formula 3 behind in 2015, and has tested in both Formula Renault 3.5 Series (for Arden Motorsport) and GP2 Series machinery (again with Arden and with MP Motorsport) in recent months, and could be in line to join one of those series’ next year.
