British Touring Car Championship outfit AMD Tuning are joining* the Avon Tyres British GT Championship this season with an entry in the GT4 class.
Team principal Shaun Hollamby will be joined by Graham Coombes at the wheel of a Porsche as the team enter endurance racing for the first time.
The move will mark a return to top-level national competition for Hollamby, who last drove in the BTCC in 2010 in an S2000-spec VW Golf.
AMD are the latest outfit to confirm an entry into the burgeoning GT4 category in British GT, with championship organisers believing up to half of the 32 available grid slots will be filled by GT4 runners.
“The GT arena is clearly very strong at the moment and we want to be part of that for the long term development of AMD Tuning,” Hollamby told Motorsport News.
“GT4 is a great first step and I still want to be driving. This is just the first move, but I hope we can expand and do more in the long distance events.”
AMD are also currently committed to a one-car entry into the BTCC with reigning Renault UK Clio Cup champion Mike Bushell, though a previously planned entry into the Clios is looking unlikely to come to fruition.
*subject to confirmation from the organisers due to over subscription of the series.
