Orudzhev graduates to Formula Renault 3.5 with Arden

1 Mins read

Russian teenager Egor Orudzhev will compete in the 2015 Formula Renault 3.5 Series season with the Arden Motorsport team.

The nineteen-year-old steps up from Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 where he raced for Tech 1 Racing in 2014, where he finished eighth in the championship having taken three podium finishes. He also brings his SMP Racing backing to the team.

“I am glad to present SMP Racing in one of the most prestigious and fast series – Formula Renault 3.5,” said Orudzhev. “SMP Racing Program supported me in junior classes, and we were able to show good results.

“I am happy to join the Arden Motorsport team – one of the best team in Formula Renault 3.5 Championship. Previously, I had the opportunity to test the car, and during our tests I quickly found good communication with the engineer, as well as mechanics and team managers.”

Arden’s Garry Horner welcomed Orudzhev to the team, and admitted the team were impressed with the Russian during the end of season tests last season.

“It is great to have Egor join the team this year,” said Horner. “We have been impressed with his performance during end of season testing at both Jerez and Motorland.

“He has the advantage of being familiar with the World Series by Renault programme and the also the circuits we have visited and raced at with the Eurocup FR2.0 for the last two years.”

Orudzhev becomes the third Eurocup driver to move up to Formula Renault 3.5 in 2015, after 2014 champion Nyck de Vries joined DAMS and Aurelien Panis joined Tech 1 Racing.
