Sharp, Latifi join Carrera Cup GB as Champions Return

1 Mins read

Former Ginetta GT Supercup racer Tom Sharp and single seater superstar Nicholas Latifi have become the latest high profile entrants to join the Porsche Carrera Cup of Great Britain for 2015.

Sharp will be the name most familiar to fans of the TOCA package having spent several seasons contesting the Ginetta GT Supercup series. Subsequently he spent two further seasons with the manufacturer in British GT competition.

Previously he has entered the Porsche Scholarship scheme, becoming a finalist. He last tested a Porsche GT3 Cup car in November at Silverstone. His car could possibly be run by the same set-up with whom he finished second in the 2012 GT Superup.

Latifi has experience of the Carrera Cup GB having contested the Rockingham rounds in 2014. He will dovetail his campaign this season with a Formula Renault 3.5 title tilt.

He joins champion squad Redline Racing, who have also confirmed a continued partnership with former double champion Michael Meadows under the Samsung Racing banner.

In recent days Josh Webster has become another high profile driver confirmed for the 2015 contest, switching from Redline Racing with whom he won the 2014 title to Team Parker Racing.

The last word goes to Sharp, who perhaps best sums up the anticipation ahead of what is looking set to be a vintage season for the Carrera Cup GB. “The championship is one of the best sportscar series in the world and is in great health for the season ahead with some top drivers signed up.”
