Donkin Returns To Clio Cup For Croft

1 Mins read

Paul Donkin is set to make his first appearance in the Renault UK Clio Cup this season at his home circuit of Croft next weekend with SV Racing.

Regular Ariel Atom racer Donkin made his Clio Cup debut in the final rounds of the 2014 season at Brands Hatch GP, securing a pair of top ten finishes with SV in torrid weather conditions.

Donkin, who made a one-off outing in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB at Croft last season, strengthens SV’s entry back to its early season number of three cars, joining championship leader Ant Whorton-Eales and Jack Mitchell.

“My first attempt at the Clio Cup at Brands Hatch didn’t go to plan. I feel I’ve got some unfinished business,” said Donkin. “I’ve always wanted to race in the Clio Cup, the cars are dynamite and it’s the best route into the BTCC.

“I want to do well at Croft, obviously, but the level of competition in the Clio Cup is at a whole new level to what I’m used to and any track knowledge I have will count for little, so we’ll just see how things unfold.”
