Antonio Giovinazzi was untouchable as he won the twelve-lap qualifying race ahead of the Masters of F3 event on Saturday by almost nine seconds.
The Jagonya Ayam with Carlin driver, the highest placed FIA European Formula 3 Championship driver racing this weekend at Zandvoort, got the jump on pole-sitter Sergio Sette Camara at the start, and the pulled away each lap to ensure victory and pole position for Sunday’s hour-long feature race.
Sette Camara was also overtaken at the start by Motopark team-mate Markus Pommer, with the two drivers maintaining position throughout the race, with fourth placed George Russell of Carlin in close proximity, although none of the drivers were at any time in any position to challenge those in front of them.
Sam MacLeod made a good start to move into fifth for Motopark ahead of team-mate Nabil Jeffri, with both drivers getting ahead of the two Van Amersfoort Racing drivers at the start, with Alessio Lorandi getting the better of VAR team-mate Arjun Maini.
Callum Ilott missed out on a top ten finish due to being shuffled out at the start, with Carlin’s Ryan Tveter and Jo Zeller Racing’s Felix Serralles ninth and tenth.
Julio Moreno inherited eleventh for ThreeBond with T-Sport after Raoul Hyman retired his Team West-Tec F3 car on the fourth lap with a mechanical issue, the only retiree of the race.
