Brown Takes Second Winter Series Pole At Snetterton

1 Mins read

Lewis Brown made it two pole positions out of two for the 2015 Ginetta Junior Winter Series with the quickest time in Sunday qualifying at Snetterton.

With improved track conditions, the field were able to post lap times nearly four seconds faster than their efforts in the weekend’s opening qualifying session yesterday.

It was the same names that were appearing at the top of the timesheets though, with a much closer session seeing the top seven drivers split by just over a second with five minutes to go.

Brown just managed to set a quicker effort of 2m 34.229s before the red flag appeared after problems for his HHC Motorsport team-mate Will Tregurtha.

At the green flag, the field had enough time for just one more quick lap, with Brown making the most of the opportunity to secure pole with a 2m 33.816s effort.

Dave Wooder was only 0.181s behind though, the Total Control Racing ace being the only other driver to beat the 2m 34s barrier, with Charlie Fagg over a second off pole in third.

Fagg just edged out Billy Monger for the top three, with 0.036s separating them, while points leader Stuart Middleton was left to settle for fifth on the timesheets following his double win yesterday.

Tregurtha lost out in the last gasp shootout, falling to sixth ahead of Connor Grady having been second in the timesheets before his stoppage.

Harry King was once again quickest of the rookie drivers in eighth overall, a best effort of 2m 35.901s being nearly one and a half seconds faster than the next best debutant Max Bird.

Sebastian Perez and Alex Day rounded out the top ten ahead of Geri Nicosia, Bird and Rowan Bailey, with Seb Priaulx, son of three-time WTCC champion Andy, in fourteenth.

2015 Ginetta Junior Ireland runner-up James Roe Jnr pipped the series champion Jordan Dempsey for fifteenth, with Frank Bird, Charlie Digby and Anthony Ayres completing the field.
