With the earlier announcement of Luis Leeds to their ranks, TRS Arden have announced their full line up for the next MSA Formula season, with the team opting to field four drivers this year, one more than in 2015.
Most notably, they have lined up two kart drivers in the form of Jack Martin and Ayrton Simmons. Martin has had a long history with Arden having been part of their Young Racing Driver Academy, and he’s also spent the last season competitively competing in the British SuperOne Championship.
Simmons meanwhile, will be forced to miss the start of the season for being too young, however his first start has been promised to him after his fifteenth birthday in April. Like his team mate, he’s also competed in the SuperOne this year, as well as the Rotax Euro Challenge Championship, and finished fifth in the MSA Kart Masters GP.
“I am very excited to join TRS Arden for my first season in single seater racing,” said Martin. “I have moved on from Karting this year and spent the last few months focusing on testing in cars. I have spent some time working with the Arden team already, having been with their young driver programme since 2013, so it was the natural choice to select Arden to race with next year.”
While Simmons was content, despite the circumstances. “I am very happy for this opportunity to do what I love. I know it will be a complicated season because I will miss two rounds but I will do my best and I’m very grateful to have the team’s trust.”
Joining them will be the experienced MSA Formula driver Rafael Martins. The Brazilian picked up two podiums on his way to ninth overall.
“I believe I had a great rookie year with a smaller team, and I’m sure with TRS Arden I will have every opportunity to compete for wins and the championship from the start to the finish of the season,” said Martins.
