Nineteen year old Malaysian Akash Nandy has been confirmed as the first signing for Jenzer Motorsport to compete in the 2016 GP3 Series season.
Having raced in single seaters since 2011, Nandy made his European debut in 2014 after taking third in Formula Masters China. The Malaysian driver also had a strong showing in 2015 where he graduated to Remus Formel 3 Pokal, missing out on the title by just one point despite the fact he missed four races.
2016 has started off positively for Nandy after winning the final race of the Asian Le Mans Series in the GT-Am category at Sepang as part of KCMG’s outfit, but will now also race in the GP3 Series with the Swiss Jenzer team.
Team owner Andreas Jenzer, commented: “With Akash the team has a strong driver and we are convinced that we can achieve top level results with him.
“We are very motivated and will do our best to make this a successful season”
Jenzer Motorsport are the final team to announce a driver, with the seven teams able to line-up with four cars each for the first time in 2016 in order to keep entry levels higher following the departure of Carlin and Status Grand Prix at the end of 2015.
