Declan Jones has a Michelin Ginetta GT4 Supercup title challenge in his sights this season after announcing he will compete in the championship with 2015 champions Century Motorsport.

Jones has never previously contested a full Supercup campaign, having contested five rounds in a G50 in 2012, before making his G55 class debut in the 2014 season finale.

The 21 year old would then return to the grid for a one-off outing at Oulton Park last season, with an impressive performance seeing him secure two top five finishes.

Jones’ 2017 entry comes courtesy of renewed backing from Halewood Wines & Spirits, who will promote their Whitley Neil Handcrafted Dry Gin product on his G55.

“Last year we got a small chance to show what we could do at Oulton Park, but this year with the opportunity to test and properly prepare ourselves I hope to be right up there,” said Jones.

“For the Oulton Park round last year, we began a partnership with Halewood Wines & Spirits, and off the back of that I am thrilled that they have come on board for 2017.

“I’m not going to hide the fact that I’m only coming back to win races and challenge for the title, and I believe I’ve got the right partners and the right team to do just that.”

Jones is Century Motorsport’s second confirmed driver for the upcoming Supercup campaign, joining second year contender Ben Green who has joined from SuperGreen Racing.

“Declan is no stranger to our team and more importantly, no stranger to winning races,” said team principal and former series race-winner Nathan Freke.

“His Oulton Park outing showed what was possible in a short space of time in the car, but now with a full confirmed programme nice and early, we can ensure Declan is properly ready for the opening round in Brands Hatch to get the year off to the best possible start.”
