Former Marussia Formula 1 driver Roberto Merhi will race with Campos this weekend in the FIA Formula 2 series at Barcelona.
Mehri raced in 13 F1 races during the 2015 season before moving on to the FIA World Endurance Championship in the LMP2 class with Manor last year.
The Spanish driver was originally on the cards to drive for the team this season after taking part in the first pre-season test in Barcelona but the team’s GP3 driver Raoul Hyman stepped in for the second test before the team signed with ex-GP2 and IndyCar driver Stefano Coletti for the season opener.
It had looked like the team would be continuing with Ralph Boschung and Coletti for the Barcelona round. Depsite Coletti being included in the teams pre-event press release, Mehri confirmed to Motorsport.com late Wednesday that he will be replacing Coletti in Barcelona and potentially Monaco.
