Robin Frijns has said he was delighted to be back in the points again after finishing sixth in the Paris ePrix.
Neither the Dutchman or his team-mate Antonio Felix da Costa had finished in the top ten since the opening round in Hong Kong back in October.
But despite an eventful race Frijns was able to put his MS Amlin Andretti on the fourth row of the grid in qualifying, and stayed at the front end to bring home eight points.
Frijns said the race was one of the stranger ones of his career, as he was battling several different drivers at different stages of the race.
And with Nico Prost showing strong pace at the end of the race before the safety car came out, Frijns said he was slightly lucky to finish where he did.
He said, “It was one of the more bizarre races in my career. I think luck was definitely on our side.
“I was fighting with Gutierrez the whole race and overtook him in the second car, which was good.
“Then [Lucas] di Grassi was behind me and got a drive-through penalty which put Prost behind me, who was a bit faster than me but the safety car came out.”
Towards the end of the race it looked as if Frijns might once again finish outside of the top ten after he received a five second penalty for speeding under full course yellows.
With the safety car was deployed the field bunched up, meaning he would have been demoted to well outside of the points.
But a technical issue with Daniel Abt’s car held up the group behind Frijns and allowed him to build a gap and keep his sixth place finish.
“I had a five-second penalty which wasn’t so lucky but rules are rules,” Frijns said.
“In the end, [Daniel] Abt had an issue and slowed everybody down which helped us. It’s been a long time since I’ve had points and to finish P6 is really important for the team and for me.”
