Bradley Burns and Zak Fulk, two drivers initially signed up for the Renault UK Clio Cup Junior championship, will now instead step straight up to the senior series later this year.

Fiesta Junior vice-champion Burns and one-time Ginetta Junior racer Fulk will compete in the final three meetings of the season, starting at Rockingham later next month.

Both drivers had initially announced ambitions to contest the Clio Cup Junior series, and have enjoyed test outings in the fourth-generation Clios in Junior specification.

With the rescheduled running of that championship now only set for a September start date, they have elected to switch to the senior category instead. Burns will compete with JamSport Racing, while Fulk will enter with Team Pyro.

“We were planning on doing the Juniors. We got the car and then they cancelled it,” said Burns.

“I wanted to do Clios anyway, so I thought we might as well just go and do it. It’s just about getting experience on track and then more about next season.”
