McLaren Shadow have announced Enzo Bonito and Bono Huis in their team for the 2018 F1 eSports Series and will join alongside Olli Pahkala.
The Woking based team will be one of nine teams to compete in the second season of F1’s eSports championship, with McLaren recruiting Olli Pahkala in the Pro Draft in London in July.
McLaren will expand their line up with the inclusion of Italy’s Enzo Bonito and Dutch’s Bono Huis. Both gamers have strong eSport racing CVs, both competing in the FIA Formula E Las Vegas eRace with Huis winning the overall race.
Bonito finished fourth in the Vegas eRace but won the Porsche eCarrera Cup and also raced in the Race of Champions in Saudi Arabia earlier this year, beating F1’s eSports champion Brendon Leigh to become eRoc Champion. The Italian went on to compete in the tournament against McLaren’s World Fastest Gamer winner Rudy van Buren.
Bono Huis is a five-time Formula Sim Racing Champion and beat fellow team-mate Olli Pahkala in the Vegas eRace with Venturi. Bono will be aiming to add another accolade to his collection by racing in this year’s F1 eSports series.
The team will be supported by Team Redline in the management and couching side of the eSports team ahead of the tournament, which will begin in October with the finale to take place in London.
