Tatiana Calderón will test an FIA Formula 2 car next week in the post-season test in Abu Dhabi with Charouz Racing System.
The female Colombian driver is aiming to make a move up the series into F2, after spending the last three years in the GP3 series. Calderón’s recent results towards the end of the season saw her claim five consecutive points finishes.
Between the GP3 series rounds in Russia and the season finale in Abu Dhabi, Calderón tested with Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 Team in Mexico for a Promotional event, as well as a weekend test in Fiorano with a V8-powered Sauber.
Sauber were impressed by her contribution over the two years she has been working with the team, as well as her speed and consistency over the two tests
She told Crash.net during the weekend in Abu Dhabi that she will testing with Charouz, which will commence on Thursday.
“I will be testing with Charouz, but I need to do a good job there to secure a seat and hopefully remain with Alfa Romeo Sauber,” said Calderón.
“It’s up to them to decide. Hopefully we can make it all work out.”
Charouz and Sauber recently agreed a collaboration deal that’ll commence next year, forming Sauber Junior Team in F2, the new FIA Formula 3 series, Italian F4 and ADAC Formula 4.
Calderón confirmed that she will be doing one day with the Czech team but is hopeful to include a second day during the weeks’ test in Abu Dhabi.
“We’re trying to see if we can do two because it would make sense to do more than one day if you want to race. At the moment, that’s the plan.”
