Renault Sport Formula One Team will now be known as Renault F1 Team for the 2019 Formula 1 Season onwards.
The French outfit will change its name to a familiar title used in the early 2000’s when they won two world championships with Fernando Alonso.
Renault finished fourth in the constructors’ championship with Nico Hülkenberg and Carlos Sainz Jr. piloting the R.S.18 ahead of rivals Haas F1 Team. Next year the team will welcome Daniel Ricciardo into their roster alongside Hülkenberg as the Australian leaves Aston Martin Red Bull Racing.
The Enstone based team will supply engines to their own team as well as McLaren F1 Team for next year.
Regarding the new name and logo that’ll be used for the 2019 season onwards, Renault say the change is to show a more ‘simpler and more natural designation’ from its connection with F1.
“This simpler and more natural designation is intended to strengthen the link that has existed for more than 40 years between Renault and Formula 1.
“This new name and new logo will be assets to achieve the strategic objectives of developing Renault’s reputation and brand image through our commitment to Formula 1, while continuing to support the company’s product ranges, especially in the sports segment.”
The iconic Renault diamond logo will remain on the teams’ logo for next year, with the new text featured next to it.
