Logan Sargeant took his first Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 victory since the opening round of the season when he led from start to finish in race one at the Nurburgring, with the American leading home Max Fewtrell for a R-ace GP one-two.

Starting from pole position, Sargeant held onto the lead into the first turn, with the drivers behind shuffling around between them into the opening sequence of turns.  Initially, Yifei Ye took the position from front row starter Fewtrell, before Christian Lundgaard jumped them both into turn three.

Ye found himself shuffled further down the pack before half a lap could be completed, with Fewtrell, Victor Martins and Alexander Smolyar edging their way ahead as he run wide at the exit of turn four.

Lundgaard held Fewtrell at bay until lap eight, when the pressure put on the Dane by the British racer paid off as he swept around the outside of turn one, which immediately became the inside of turn two.

Once ahead Fewtrell gained time regularly on the race leader, but despite late race pressure, Sargeant held on for the victory by 0.682 seconds, while Lundgaard ensured he remained on top of the championship standings by completing the podium for MP Motorsport.

Martins held onto fourth for R-ace GP, finishing on Lundgaard’s tail, while Smolyar retained fifth for Tech 1 Racing ahead of Josef Kaufmann Racing’s Ye, who lost ground in the championship as a result of finishing down in sixth, ahead of Charles Milesi of R-ace GP.

The opening lap saw a tangle between Thomas Neubauer and Oscar Piastri at the chicane at the end of the lap, which would have a negative effect for both drivers.  Piastri was spun around and fell to the back of the field, while Neubauer was penalised late on for causing a collision, which dropped him out of the top ten in the final result having initially crossed the line in eighth.

Eighth ultimately went the way of Australian Thomas Maxwell of JD Motorsport, while the points were rounded out by Alex Peroni of MP Motorsport and Arthur Rougier of Fortec Motorsports.

Once more, the Formula Renault 2.0 Northern European Cup entrants were part of the grid, and it was Anders Motorsport that took a one-two finish in class, Doureid Ghattas taking his third consecutive victory ahead of team-mate Phil Hill, the duo finishing twenty-second and twenty-third overall.

R-ace GP’s Gabriel Gandulia claimed the final spot on the podium, while the NEC runners were back to four with the welcome return of Sharon Scolari and ScoRace Team, who missed the Hungaroring round.  The Swiss racer was well off the pace on her return however, finishing a lap down in twenty-sixth, the final finisher as both Najiy Razak and Frank Bird retired.
