The final 2019 Miller Oils Ginetta GT4 Supercup race of the weekend at Croft, saw Rob Boston Racing’s, Simon Rudd, on pole for the first time in this reversed grid race, joining him on the front row was Privateer Carlito Miracco, Harry King and Mike Epps filled row two, with Will Burns and Tom Hibbert back on row three, Championship contender Reece Somerfield was back down on the fifth row after finding the gravel late in race two.

When the lights went out Rudd managed to getaway ahead of the pack, and indeed made it through Clervaux and Hawthorn in the lead, but King was desperate for the win, after a penalty in race 2 saw him pushed down to fourth, and took the lead through Tower.

King never looked back and eventually took the flag a full 10.508 seconds clear of second-placed man, Mike Epps.  Epps made his way past Rudd on lap six, but King had long gone. Rudd held on to third, for his first podium finish.  Miracco and Hibbert came home fourth and fifth after having their private battle for most the race.

The last Pro class man back, was RBR’s Will Burns, who’s suffered a flat early on, and crossed the line in fourteenth place, and sixth in class, one lap down.

In the Am class, Declan Jones Racing’s, Lucky Khera had top spot on the grid with AK Motorsport’s Carl Garnett beside him, followed by James Kell and Dan Kirby and further back Nathan Heathcote and Colin White.

White and Heathcote systematically worked their way through the field, eventually taking Khera on lap four,  then set about winning the race, but on lap seven Heathcote took a little trip over the grass, losing five places in the process, but managing to pull them back to come home eighth overall and third in class.

Colin White took the class win, for the second time this weekend, followed by Carl Garnett, for his first podium, in second, and Heathcote third.

Next home was Lucky Khera in fourth, just managing to keep Team HARDs, Dan Kirby, at bay. Darron Lewis made it home sixth in class and eleventh overall, after starting from the very back of the grid. Century Motorsport’s Jack Oliphant had his best result of the weekend, coming home seventh in class, ahead of Lee Frost. And finally Peter Bassill came back plum last.

The Non finishers, were Reece Somerfield, who had simply a shocking weekend, and slipped to fourth in the Championship.  James Kell and Tom Barley, both disappeared on lap 3, and finally Fin Green went off on the back straight on the first lap, ending  his race, Green has never really looked himself this weekend, possibly a confidence issue resulting from his crash at Donington.

The BTCC circus now moves on towards Oulton Park in a fortnights time, and as they leave North Yorkshire the Championship standings look like this.
