The RX2 International Series will run a one-off event at Nysum in Denmark that symbolizes the end of the former FIA World Rallycross support series.

RX2 promoter RX Promotion has been unable to find any suitable World championship rounds where the RX2 series could compete on the revamped 2020 calendar due to the COVID-19 pandemic and therefore have decided to create a one off event to run in conjunction with RallyX Nordic‘s Supercar Lites which also uses RX2 cars.

The 2020 season marks the end of the internal combustion engine powered Supercar Lites cars. After the class started as a support category to the American Global Rallycross series, the category then became an official support class in the FIA European Rallycross Championship in 2014 under the RX Lites banner.

In 2017 it then started as a world championship where it started to run outside of Europe alongside the World RX championship.

For 2021, a new rallycross era will see the introduction of the FIA eRX2 Championship class and the base car, which was unveiled at the recent All-Star ‘Magic Weekend’ by QEV Technologies, is similar to that of the current RX2 machine although features an electric drivetrain.

The RX2 one-off event which will be hosted for first time ever in Denmark at 4-6 September, marks the end of the current generation Supercar Lites. The 2020 RX2 ‘champion’ will be receiving a fully funded 2021 single-round entry in the new class next year.

The event can be watched through a livestream provided by NEP and the package will be available to purchase ahead of the event.
