Hi everyone! Firstly I would like to say a big thank you to TCF for inviting me to blog for them this year as I compete in the FIA F3 European Championship with Double R Racing.
For those of you who aren’t aware about my previous racing background, here it goes…
After various successes in karting, including being the only woman to win the Stars of Karting East Coast National Championship in the USA, I graduated to the Star Mazda Championship in 2010 with the Juncos Racing team, earning a top ten championship finish in my first year of single-seater racing.
I returned to the championship in 2011 with Juncos again, improving on my 2010 performance to take two podium finishes and sixth position in the championship standings.
The series, also seen as an alternative to Formula Renault in America, prepared me for my next career step, as I moved to Europe to compete in the European F3 Open. I competed in this series for a year, culminating in a ninth place finish in the standings, whilst also gaining a third place finish in the F3 Open Winter Series at Paul Ricard.
Having gained a year’s experience in an F3 car, the next logical step for me was to graduate to the FIA F3 European Championship, with the series possessing undoubtedly one of the strongest grids outside of Formula One.
We had a difficult first outing in torrential conditions at Monza two weeks ago, but I’m feeling very confident of producing a good performance as the championship heads to Silverstone this weekend, in support of the World Endurance Championship.
I’ll be sure to keep you posted with all of my news throughout the season, but in the meantime, you can follow me via @TataCalde on Twitter!
