Filipe Albuquerque, Colin Braun Lead Opening Petit Le Mans Sessions
Championship contenders showed good pace in all three classes in the opening two practice sessions at Road Atlanta on Thursday.
Richard Westbrook and Ryan Briscoe won a hard-fought GT Le Mans victory in their Chip Ganassi Racing Ford GT, having clashed with a GTD Ferrari and Nick Tandy’s Porsche 911 to grab the win in the closing moments.
It was a clean sweep for Ford at Watkins Glen International. The Ford Chip Ganassi dominance was no surprise with the team entering the weekend with the most Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen victories among the entries with a total of five, including a GTLM victory at the track in 2016.
Toyota continue to lead the field in LMP1, with G-Drive a lap ahead in LMP2, while Porsche continue to lead both GTE classes.
