The race for the overall victory and the battle for the LMP1 championship of the American Le Mans Series (ALMS) took a major twist in the opening 50 laps of Petit Le Mans.

The no.2 Audi team of Timo Bernhard, Romain Dumas and Loic Duval lead the 60th 12 Hours of Sebring, and the opening round of the first FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) at half way, having passed the team car of Tom Kristensen, Allan McNish and Dindo Capello in the sixth hour.
Though few at Sebring International Raceway for the 60th running the 12 Hours of Sebring would have been surprised by Audi dominating the times â€“ only incident or accident was likely to stop that â€“ that Andre Lotterer led the team in 1-2-3 formation would likely have attracted more attention.
The trio of Audi R18 ended the first day of official running at Sebring International Raceway comfortably leading the 60 strong field through all three Thursday practice sessions.
