The Verizon IndyCar Series announced last night that the championship would not be returning to Arizona’s ISM Raceway for the 2019 season. Lacklustre races and crowd sizes have been cited as reasons for the removal from the calendar.

Josef Newgarden led a trio of Team Penske cars at the top of the time-sheets in an open test for the Verizon IndyCar Series at Alabama’s Barber Motorsports Park yesterday. The test also saw veteran Helio Castroneves return to the cockpit.
