The 2020 Indy Lights season has been cancelled due to economic and scheduling difficulties brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. The IndyCar support series plans to return to competition in 2021.
Patricio O’Ward has announced today that he will not race for Harding Steinbrenner Racing in the upcoming 2019 NTT IndyCar Series. Patricio said today that he is searching for another drive in IndyCar.
The highly successful Road to Indy program will continue once again in 2019 despite the loss of key backers Mazda. The scheme will award increased prize money to the 2019 Indy Lights champion to help them secure an IndyCar seat.
Mazda has announced that they will end their involvement with the Road to Indy program after eight years. The Japanese manufacturer joined the series in 2011 and will depart for 2019 to focus on their motorsport entries elsewhere.
