Nasser Al-Attiyah took his third stage win of the 2018 Rally Dakar with victory on stage 12 to cement his third place. In the Trucks Eduard Nikolaev retakes the lead from Federico Villagra, but only by one second with two days left to run.
Toyota’s Bernhard Ten Brinke won stage 11 of the 2018 Dakar as Carlos Sainz increased his lead when the controversial 10 minute penalty was rescinded. In Bikes Barrera pulls out due to injury and Nikolaev loses his Trucks lead.
Peugeot Sebastien Loeb took his first stage win of this year event which moves him up to second place in the standings behind Stephane Peterhansel. Team-mate and former leader Cyril Despres retired with suspension damage. Sam Sunderland’s bid to retain last year’s bike crown ended after he was airlifted to hospital with a back injury.
