HRT’s Pedro de la Rosa described his qualifying session for the Italian Grand Prix as average after he was out-qualified by team-mate Narain Karthikeyan for the first time.
HRT had what they describe as their best qualifying session of 2012 today in Monaco as Pedro de la Rosa finished the session just a tenth of a second off the pace of lead Marussia driver Timo Glock and within 103.6% of the best time.
For the first time this season, HRT have managed to qualify a car higher than the back row of the grid as Pedro de la Rosa took P22 today in Bahrain. The team used the fact that they out-qualified Marussia driver Timo Glock as further evidence of their steadily improving performance.
HRT have today announced that engineer Toni Cuquerella will take on the role of technical director within the team with immediate effect.
HRT are confident they will be able to qualify within the 107% time after an encouraging Friday practice in Malaysia
Michael Schumacher was the fastest driver on Day Two of pre-season testing in Jerez, setting a best lap of 1:18.561. The seven-time world champion completed 132 laps in total.
