Reigning champions Fortec Motorsport have confirmed Shahaan Engineer will join the team for the 2012 CERTINA Formula Renault 2.0 UK Championship.

16 year old Engineer made his Formula Renault debut with Fortec in the 2011 Formula Renault UK Finals Series, where he put in some encouraging performances against far more experienced racers. The Dubai-based racer has now confirmed his entry into the main UK championship for the first time and is building experience ahead of it by competing in the Toyota Racing Series in New Zealand at the moment.

Engineer said: “Its great to be working with the multiple championship winning team, and I am really looking forward to the year ahead.”

Fortec’s Formula Renault 2.0 UK Team Manager Alex Fleming added: “Shahaan’s had a successful career in Karting and his performances in the Finals Series demonstrated that he is more than capable of having a strong season with us. Although still very young, he is extremely focused and I'm sure that his hard work will pay off this season.”
