RML has completed a shakedown of the first two of its Chevrolet Cruze machines built to the new TC1 regulations for the World Touring Car Championship.

The cars, 001 and 002, are now being handed over to the Campos Racing and ROAL Motorsport teams ahead of the 2014 season. Drivers Hugo Valente and Tom Chilton will test the respective cars at Valencia’s Ricardo Tormo circuit later this week.

“The timeline for this project has been incredibly tight and I was immensely proud of everyone involved when car 001 rolled out this morning,” said RML’s Director of Motorsport Ron Hartvelt on Saturday.

“That this shakedown was successfully completed to the schedule we predicted back in October is a testament to the talent and dedication of the whole organisation. Of course we would have much preferred a proper test and development programme before handing the cars over, but we are confident that the customer teams will do a good job.”

Dusan Borkovic and Tom Coronel will drive the second cars at Campos and ROAL respectively, while Munnich Motorsport announced last week that they will run two more Cruzes for Gianni Morbidelli and Rene Munnich.
