Rookie Hylkema Aiming To Continue Winning At Snetterton

1 Mins read

Dutch driver Bart Hylkema has a perfect record of wins in the Rookie Class of the British Formula Three International Series after six races but, despite his already healthy points lead is focussed on maintaining that record this weekend at Snetterton.

The T-Sport driver is currently 58 points ahead of Kotaro Sakurai – his only competitor so far in the class – and as Hylkema, Sakurai and the drivers in the premier International Class make their first racing visit to the newly revamped Snetterton Hylkema is confident of another strong weekend.

“I'm really looking forward to Snetterton, we've had a great start to the season and things couldn't have gone much better to be honest,” he commented. “Next weekend will bring another new track for me to get to grips with but I'm sure we'll be up-to-speed pretty quickly.”

Though his focus remains a successful class campaign, the Delft-based driver's bigger aim to bridge the gap to the rear and midfield as the season progresses in his Geothex, TORO, Club Car, Ditch Witch and Annika Schultz Communications sponsored car.

“Of course I want to try and take all three class wins again but the bigger goal is to get as close as possible to the [International] Class cars to mix it with those guys. With a bit more experience and more time in the car I'm confident we can get there – and hopefully that can begin at Snetterton.”

Formula Three qualifying takes place at 10:40am, with the first of the weekend's three races following at 14.55. Two further races are scheduled for Sunday at 10:55am and 4:15pm.
