Subaru ready to make GRC return next month

1 Mins read

Subaru Rally Team USA will make their long-awaited Red Bull Global Rallycross comeback at next month’s MCAS New River double header.

The military base events will mark Subaru‘s first start this season, having last competed at the 2015 season finale in Las Vegas.

“I’m excited to get this WRX STI on track at New River,” said driver Bucky Lasek. “The team has done a fantastic job improving the handling and speed of our cars. We’re feeling well prepared for this double-header race weekend.”

“Red Bull GRC and the Marines hosted an excellent event at MCAS New River last year, so we’re eager to come back to the base,” added Subaru motorsports manager Rob Weir. “We look forward to bringing
action-filled racing to our troops and fans alike for the holiday weekend.”

The Vermont Sports Car-run Subaru team has faced a tough past 18 months, with their new WRX STI GRC Supercar struggling to get up to speed last season. An off-season rebuild of the car followed, along with further mechanical issues which delayed the team’s 2016 début on more than one occasion.
