Alex Palou Gets Third Seasonal Win at Road America

1 Mins read

Alex Palou takes his third 2023 NTT IndyCar Series win in the Sonsio Grand Prix at Road America. With this win, the Spaniard extended his lead in the championship to 74 points.

“It’s been an amazing weekend. I’m super happy. My team gave me the pit stop that gave us the win,” said a satisfied Palou

Joining the Chip Ganassi Racing #10 driver on the podium are Team Penske’s Josef Newgarden and Arrow McLaren’s Pato O’Ward, with the latter in contention for third place with Palou’s team-mate Scott Dixon, who contended himself with a fourth place after starting from the 23rd position.

Poleman Colton Herta, who led 33 of the 55 laps of the race, had to save fuel at the end of the race and concluded in fifth position. “It’s a frustrating one. We had the best car, we were just cruising all the time, I had so much more in it but I never really got to show it because we were saving fuel and trying to go that lap later. So, it’s a killer,” said Herta at the end of the race.

The race, overall, has been full of intense moments with a few drivers that found themselves on the grass or in the gravel, which led to an event full of cautions caused respectively by Kyle Kirkwood, after spinning at turn 1 in the first lap, Romain Grosjean, Jack Harvey and David Malukas who has been the only driver to retire from the race

Make sure not to miss the next IndyCar race, the Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio, on July 2!
