Central Group Racing enter their fourth season in BTCC with Hereford-born racer Lea Wood, aiming for S2000 honours in the 2013 Jack Sears Trophy as they continue the learning experience.

Mendips (Bristol) Raceway Minirod series champion of 2000, Wood raced with his own team for much of their existence, the 2007 BRSCC Super Silhouette Championship title being an early scalp before moving to the BTCC-supporting Renault Clio Cup in 2008, where Wood claimed a second place at Oulton Park.

The team then entered a single Honda Integra for seven of the 10 rounds in the 2010 British Touring Car Championship for their debut year, Wood finishing 24th with three 11th place finishes his best results.

In 2011, another 11th place finish was Wood and the team’s best result again in a Honda Integra, before switching to a BINZ-backed Vauxhall Vectra in 2012, where results began to improve. 11 top 10 finishes for Wood were the team’s reward as they finished ninth in the team’s standings, with a giant-killing fifth place at Oulton Park being the team’s best result of the season, although a gearbox problem at Snetterton robbed them of a possible podium.

The team continues into 2013 under the Wood Racing banner, entering the S2000-specification Jack Sears Trophy class with Wood in a Vauxhall Vectra.
