James Abbott has confirmed he will switch from a Sinter chassis to a Mygale for the remainder of the 2013 Dunlop MSA Formula Ford Championship of Great Britain.
Abbott has competed in a Radical-prepared Sinter during the opening three weekends of the campaign, but has found going tough, picking up just one top six finish in the nine races to date.
“We purchased a Mygale,” James’ father, Radical boss Phil Abbott explained to Autosport. “This doesn’t mean to say we’ve given up on the Sinter. It’s more that James is only 19 and I don’t want to use an entire season to develop a car. I think he’s capable of an awful lot better than what we’ve given him.”
Abbott’s move to the Mygale leaves Fred Martin-Dye’s SWB Motorsport-prepared car as the only Sinter left on the grid, with the series returning to action at Oulton Park on June 8/9.
