Murray Crowned Double Irish FF1600 Champion

1 Mins read

Niall Murray has been crowned the 2014 Northern Ireland Formula Ford 1600 and the 2014 All Ireland Formula Ford 1600 champion with one meeting to spare in each series.

Having wrapped up the All Ireland title last month at Mondello Park, the former Ginetta Junior race-winner returned to Kirkistown this past weekend needing just a single point to secure the Northern Ireland championship.

The Irishman took pole position for both the weekend’s races, securing him the point needed to clinch his second title before racing got underway.

The reigning Formula Ford Festival winner went on to take a comfortable victory in the opening race, before overcoming unexpected heavy rain in race to take his FCR Media Racing-run car to a ninth win of the year at Kirkistown to cap off his weekend in style.

“I’m delighted with yet another great weekend up in Kirkistown. Two poles and two comfortable race wins in my FF1600,” said Murray.

“I’m thrilled to have now clinched both the All Ireland and Northern Ireland FF1600 Championships before the last round. Massive thanks to all of my sponsors.”
