Kanamaru returns to Emilio de Villota Motorsports for 2015

1 Mins read

Yu Kanamaru has confirmed that he will return to Emilio de Villota Motorsports for a second season of the EuroFormula Open championship.

The Japanese driver, who also raced in the legendary Formula 3 Grand Prix in Macau in November 2014, finished fourth in the EuroFormula Open championship last year, finishing on the podium four times, with a best finish of second place coming in the opening race of the weekend at Portimao in Portugal.

Team Principal and Founder Emilio de Villota was happy to be retaining the services of Kanamaru, and hopes he can build on the success he saw in 2014.

“I am very happy to have Yu working with us another year,” insisted de Villota. “Our aim is clear and ambitious at the same time, to be the winners of the EuroFormula Open. We have strengthened our technical and sporting staff, and I feel confident about our chances for this season.

“Without doubts it is great to have a two-year program with the same driver, as it places us in a privileged position to fight for the title. Our results last year proved how good our work, perfectly done by the team and the driver, was. That is our starting point for the Winter Series, when we will able to finalize details to prepare our season properly.”
