Giuliano Alesi to switch from karting to cars in 2015

1 Mins read

Giuliano Alesi, the son of former Formula 1 race winner Jean Alesi, will make his single-seater racing debut in 2015 after joining the French F4 Championship.

He is the fourth driver to be confirmed so far for the 2015 season, after fellow Frenchman Gabriel Aubry, Swiss driver Gjergj Haxhiu, and Mexican Axel Matus.

The younger Alesi had been competing for the past two seasons in karting, and feels ready to move up into car racing this year in the Auto Sport Academy series.

He first tested a Formula 4 car around the Bugatti circuit at Le Mans during winter testing, and these were enough to make Alesi decide to race in French F4 in 2015.

“I am very happy and looking forward to starting my career in single-seaters,” insisted Alesi.

“I intend to prepare myself in the best way possible before making my debut in the first meeting at Lédenon.”

Alesi’s preparations will continue with two collective test days at the Bugatti Le Mans circuit, before he makes his race debut at the Lédenon circuit over the weekend of 18/19 April.

His father Jean competed in 201 Grand Prix, racing for Tyrrell, Ferrari, Benetton, Sauber, Prost and Jordan, and won the 1995 Canadian Grand Prix.
