Marussia have confirmed that they will miss the final pre-season test this week after their 2012 car – the MR01 – failed its final FIA crash test.

The team formerly known as Virgin Racing were due to attend the test in Barcelona, which starts on Thursday, but drivers Timo Glock and Charles Pic will now have to wait until the opening race in Australia before they can drive a lap in the new car.

The MR01 passed 17 out of the 18 tests the car was required to complete before running commences.

Marussia will now concentrate their efforts on repeating the crash test at the end of this week.
