Fortec Motorsport have confirmed that the four drivers that were set to compete for them in the CERTINA Formula Renault 2.0 UK Championship, Jake Dennis, Shahaan Engineer, Josh Hill and Dan de Zille, will make the switch to the Formula Renault 2.0 Northern European Cup with the Daventry-based team.
After the cancellation of the UK series, Fortec immediately confirmed they would make the switch to the NEC, but at the time it was unclear which of their drivers would follow them. All four drivers headed out to the Hockenheimring in Germany last week to take part in the series' second official pre-season test and after strong performances from all four, they each made the decision to switch to the NEC for 2012.
Fortec Team Principal Richard Dutton said: “Obviously I'm delighted that our four drivers have opted to stay with us and compete in the NEC. It's a large field so it will be competitive, but we've already shown we have great out-and-out pace and I'm certain that all four of our drivers will be very strong this year. It's a new challenge – they'll be visiting circuits they've never even tested at before, but they're the best around and they won't be fazed by that.”
The Northern European Cup season begins at the Hockenheimring, Germany on April 19-21.
